All Smiles at the 2016 Oral Cancer 5K

This year’s Oral Cancer Foundation 5K Run/Walk for Awareness was a huge success!

We all enjoyed walking and running on the beautiful St. Petersburg beach, and we were moved by the powerful story shared by Eva Grayzel. At Creating Smiles, we are passionate about oral cancer prevention, so we look forward supporting the important work of the Oral Cancer Foundation at the 5K each year.

As proud sponsors of the event, we set up early on Saturday morning and mingled with the runners and walkers. We sold many raffle tickets to support the Oral Cancer FoundationWe were also thrilled to conduct 24 free oral cancer screenings! Where else can you get important preventative care right after a pleasant walk on the beautiful St. Pete beach?

Pictured below is the delighted winner of our raffle. She won a terrific gift basket containing a children’s Sonicare, toothpaste, and other goodies. All proceeds went to support oral cancer research and prevention.

Also present at the event was one of our patients, Steven, who came into our office recently with some tooth sensitivity and an unusual white spot on his tongue. Dr. Brayer examined him and immediately referred him to the oral surgeon, just in time to prevent the precancerous cells from spreading. Steven was so thankful for Dr. Brayer’s diligence that saved him from oral cancer!

We are already looking forward to next year’s event!

Stay tuned and please consider joining us in 2017. For more great images from this year’s race, check out the album on our Facebook page. Don’t forget to like us on Facebook so you don’t miss future updates!
