Dental Service Project: St. Pete Beach Clean Up Evening

School’s out for the summer! Are you trying to come up with ways to get your kids outside, or to be more productive, or have you wished there was a service project that was okay for kids? Well Dr. Brayer and Dr. Phane seem to be able to find ways to include their kids in service projects. Last summer, Dr. Brayer’s kids set up a neighborhood lemonade stand and donated their earnings to the Oral Cancer Foundation! Follow her on instagram to see pictures of her and her kids making sandwiches for homeless shelters and other wonderful and fun events. Being so involved can be a lot of work, so let us do the work for you. Join us on Pass-A-Grille beach next to Paradise Grille for our beach clean up evening. We will provide the gloves, bags, waters, and prizes!!! Our kids loved the beach clean up days we did last year. We gave out prizes for the grossest trash, for the most trash, and the prettiest trash! The first time, we gave out some of our prevention products which the adults appreciated. The second time, we got some dollar store prizes and the kids were in heaven! Both times they were competitive and thoroughly enjoyed picking up the cigarette parts, broken plastic cups, and even found a dead fish! The clean up part of the evening does not last long since we have a good group of helpers and the kids’ attention spans are not long. But we found so much trash and it felt so good to instill the values of keeping our community clean.

We did the first two at Madiera Beach, the first one was in the evening like this one, when the sun was going down so sunscreen was not so needed, we were not rushing to get to anything since it was at the end of the day, and the kids loved it! The buzz about our dental office beach clean up spread through out the blog world and The Little Explorers preschool group wanted to join in on the fun. So we did a beach clean up for one of their Friday field trips. We provided extra small gloves, bags, popsicles, waters, lip balms, and the dollar store prizes. These cuties had such a good time! It was a Friday morning so was a little hot. We’re going to do it in the evening so our whole Creating Smiles Dental team can go with their families, friends, and patients. Join us!
