Dental Exam Q&A

3D True Definition Digital Scanner - Creating Smiles - Clearwater and St. Petersburg FL
Why do I need a dental exam?

Creating Smiles Dental believes in the power of preventive care to avoid dental disease. Just as you care for your overall health with annual physical exams, dental exams are essential to preventing most oral health issues, from cavities to gum disease.

Regular check-ins with your dentist can help prevent conditions like oral cancer, dental decay, and periodontal disease, and also ensure proper treatment following any form of facial trauma.

How often should I get a dental exam?

Getting your teeth and gums professionally cleaned during a general dental exam every three to six months allows for the early detection of issues, from impacted wisdom teeth to tooth decay, at the most treatable stage. Routine dental exams can prevent the need for more costly and invasive procedures, such as extractions, root canals, fillings, bondings, and more.

In addition to scheduling frequent dental exams, it’s important to care for your oral health with everyday preventive measures. A daily home routine that includes brushing at least twice a day, flossing, and eating a healthy diet is essential to maintaining a healthy smile.

If you’re due for a dental exam or it’s been a while since you’ve seen a dentist, call Creating Smiles Dental today for an appointment or request one online. You can also contact the office to see their availability for same-day dental exam appointments.

What do dental exams consist of?

During your dental exam at Creating Smiles Dental, we will do many things, all while keeping you comfortable! First, we will take x-rays of your teeth, ensuring that everything looks good from that standpoint. We will also perform a 3D scan of your teeth and bite, to ensure that everything is properly in place. Then, we will perform an in depth dental and gum exam, in which case we will check for cavities, gingivitis, and other forms of gum disease. When you come to Creating Smiles Dental for your dental exam, you’ll get top notch treatment, and you can rest assured you’re in the best hands possible.

Why do my teeth need to be polished?

This is a question we get often as teeth polishing is one of the many services you get during your dental exam. Not only will polishing your teeth help their physical appearance, but it also makes it less likely for food and plaque to be able to stick onto the tooth, helping to ensure excellent tooth health.

Will my insurance cover my dental exam?

You will have to check with your insurance company if they cover dental exams. Have any questions about if we accept your insurance? Call us! We’d love to answer them.
